HydroPoetics

Engaging audiences with plant consciousness through healing, herbs, and hydroponics

Artist Katy Connor will develop 'HydroPoetics': an artwork that brings the ancient healing power of plants into contemporary art spaces. Katy will use the support from Viriditas to create an adaptable installation: engaging water, wind, light and plant-life in spatial configuration with video, to reveal different senses of vegetal being for humans. Stepping inside, audiences gain insights into alternative senses of time and duration, plant agency and phytoncides: experiencing the healing properties of medicinal herbs and wildflowers.

'HydroPoetics' is an ongoing research project that explores hydroponics as an expanded system and experimental practice. Initiated in Spring 2021, the work considers our more-than-human relationships with plants, through seeding systems and collaborations - with a specific focus on ecology and reciprocal practices of care.
